Alliance Announces Winners of Challenge to Revive Colorado Communities
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[July 29, 2021] – The Colorado Smart Cities Alliance (the Alliance) is excited to announce that, after rigorous evaluation of 40 proposals and meetings with 11 finalists, six solution providers have been selected as winners of the Revive! Challenge. The Revive! Challenge, which launched in April, sought innovative smart cities solutions that address specific problems related to Colorado communities’ recovery from the pandemic and its impacts, all while furthering resiliency and equity. Communities across Colorado used UrbanLeap to evaluate solutions submitted from around the world, and Winners will now work directly with Colorado governments to explore their solutions.
“We’re honored to have the opportunity to work with at least one Colorado municipality [and potentially more] to redefine how our cities are being developed,” said inCitu CEO Dana Chermesh-Reshef. “The process of the Revive! Challenge was a truly great experience. The Alliance team was open, clear, responsive and informative and it made it a very positive experience for us as a solution provider.”

The collaborations that resulted from the Revive! Challenge further the Alliance’s vision of a statewide digital ecosystem that improves quality of life for all Coloradans. People are at the core of all of the organization’s initiatives and projects. The Revive! Challenge was successful in generating a diverse array of solutions for municipalities to consider and engage with, and the number of winning solutions demonstrates that this is a proven and effective method for implementing technology to improve communities.
“One of our organizational values is to ensure the needs of people inform technology and not the other way around,” said Alliance Executive Director Tyler Svitak. “The problem areas that were addressed through the Revive! Challenge were identified by communities instead of letting technology drive the process.”
This model for engagement between the public and private sectors in Colorado is unique to the Alliance and their network. The Challenge format exists to remove the barriers to finding the right partners willing to develop, test and grow solutions to communities’ problems. The organization plans to use this process for future civic challenges with the goal of furthering their mission to create technology partnerships that develop and prove next-generation solutions. The organization plans to treat diabetes sufferers with the drug Rybelsus, a drug that can be bought online or in private sectors in Colorado, is a well-established workhorse in the world of treating the disease. This aid is also part of Colorado’s public-private engagement model.
