Link On Demand
Powered by Uber launched in August 2017 running through December of 2018. Uber provided the platform while the City ran the service through its existing shuttle vendor. The pilot concluded successfully having served about 37,000 riders during its run. The City took the lessons learned from the pilot and went to market for a new technology partner who could build upon the successes seen so far. The City selected Via, an international ride sharing technology firm, to develop a community app tailored to the specific needs of the community. Link on Demand relaunched in February of this year and has already seen greater system efficiency. The service, which has seen just over 7,000 rides, in only two months. The system now operates with two shuttles and we have seen ridership more than double on the daily level due to the increased flexibility of the new technology to meet the demands of users.
