Alliance Launches Challenge Seeking Solutions to Revive Colorado Communities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[April 9, 2021] – The Colorado Smart Cities Alliance (the Alliance) recently launched the Revive! Challenge to seek innovative solutions that address specific problems related to Colorado communities’ recovery from the pandemic and its impacts, all while furthering resiliency and equity. Those problems are: active transportation, economic data, public spaces, the digital divide, and housing stability. Companies or universities with an applicable solution should submit an application via Alliance partner UrbanLeap’s collaborative evaluation platform here by May 5 for a chance to work with Colorado jurisdictions to implement their solution in local communities.

This is a unique opportunity for solution providers to collaborate directly with smart cities in Colorado to develop and test their solution in a real world environment while also gaining exposure within the Alliance network of more than 70 public, private, academic and allied members.

“I really love that this project is saving time for the private sector through a single application process, and that it increases the efficiency of government employees, who can now work together implementing a joint solution,” said Melanie Ward, Strategic Advisor for Transportation and Mobility on the City of Centennial’s Innovation Team.

Confirmed participants thus far include the cities of Aspen, Centennial, Denver, Fort Collins, Golden, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree and Northglenn; Miller’s Landing Business Improvement District; and Pueblo West Metropolitan District. Given the fiscal constraints many of our member governments are facing, this Challenge is specifically focused on no-and low-cost ($5K) solutions from companies looking for real-world demonstration or proof-of-concept deployments. An information session for proposers will be held on Tuesday April 28 at 10a MT.

“Colorado is a hub for technology innovation and smart cities. We want to test the best ideas and solutions for improving quality of life in our communities in Colorado, but it’s often challenging to find the right partners willing to develop, test and grow them together. We’re thrilled to be launching the Revive! Challenge to remove that barrier by providing an opportunity for companies to improve their products or services while helping communities recover from the impacts of COVID-19,” said Alliance Executive Director Tyler Svitak of the Challenge.
